An Early Version of Mickey Mouse enters the Public Domain

Image
It's true! 🤗 An Early Version of Mickey Mouse enters the Public Domain. On this day in 1928, "Steamboat Willie," a cartoon featuring one of the first versions of Mickey Mouse, was released by the great Walt Disney.  The cartoon figure is now in the public domain, and personally, I think he's adorable, but he doesn't look like the modern Mickey Mouse that everyone imagines when they hear that iconic name. Here's a fun little tidbit of valuable information that I was not aware of until today, US copyrights expire after 95 years, so this one expired in 2023. "Under U.S. law, a copyright can be held for 95 years before it becomes available for public use. Disney’s copyright protection on the Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse expired at midnight on Dec. 31." META AI brokers partnership with Reuters

META AI brokers partnership with Reuters to summarize answers for news related questions, and provide links to Reuters verifiable content. This is great news for the post-truth culture we're living in. 👏👏👏  Now if only they would bring back the fairness doctrine in the USA.  There should be consequences for deliberately misinforming (aka lying to) citizens. Through its partnership with Reuters, 'Meta AI can respond to news-related questions with summaries and links to Reuters content,' a Meta spokesperson said in a statement sent by email. AI Search Results

Image
Last week (in November, 2023), Google offered me the option of allowing the search engine to provide AI search results. Naturally, I opted in for that! (Yes, this means that they have access to my queries, but that doesn't bother me.) What I love about the integration of AI with Goggle search, is the way it provides an overview from several resources, all of which have links provided for further information. This also ensures that you would not be plagiarizing if you decided to use the info in one of your blog posts. Always cite your references and provide verification links to your source. Google is paying attention to these details. If you simply copy and paste information into an article, it will hurt your search engine rankings on your websites. A field in computer science that aims to build systems that can perform human tasks.   I recently downloaded...

Worst Social Media Tactics

Image
The worst social media tactics are literally rejecting potential customers.  1.  One of the most aggravating tactics that I have found is when I click on the "learn more" button on a social media ad, and I'm taken to a video reel -  with no options.  Why? I can't fast forward or speed up the video.  There is no transcript.  There is no link to get to another page of the website for delving deeper.  In some cases, there isn't even an order or buy now button. Some people simply want to waste (only God knows how many minutes of) our time on their self-aggrandizing video before they tell us what to do next, assuming we'll still be interested. Therefore, I'm X-ing out. That's right. I'm gone. 2.  Next on my list of worst social media tactics is the "fill out the form" for more info.  A form is provided so that the website visitor (aka potential customer), can ask for more information. This can be a good thing, usually.  Just don't get too ...
